Storyline

Professional Brooklyn hitman Jimmy Conlon is more commonly known as THE GRAVEDIGGER. Jimmy was a mob hit-man, who was best friends with his boss Sean Maguire. But when Jimmy's son, Michael, is marked for death by the mob, Jimmy must go up against Sean to protect Michael at all costs. Together, he and Michael must avoid corrupt cops, contract killers and the mob to survive the night.

this movie rounds out the characters(adds universal themes &life lessons,'cleveman66'),& adds nuance & context to the role of crime boss(Ed Harris),& ex-hit-man(Liam Neeson), now on the lam for crossing his ex-boss SHaun Maguire(Harris)...

Long on car chases(they should make another film on the Boston Marathon bomber),& long on conversations, I especially enjoyed them engaging in idle chitchat,waxing philosophically about the good 'ole days when life was good.

But good guy Jimmy Conlon(Niam Leeson) unwittingly puts his son,Mike & his family in danger when bad guy crime boss Maguire accidentally discovers that Jimmy has accidentally shot his son,Daniel(drug Deal gone sour),& starts to talk revenge at the same Irish bar he & Jimmy used to drink at 20 years ago.

As Jimmy pleads for his son's life,& warns against retribution,but Maguire sics his consiglieres anyway. The son,Mike conlon & family, along with jimmy,literally have to RUN ALL NIGHT.

Like high fructose corn syrup, this movie should be just enjoyed & forgotten,& calling over-the-hill hit-man(Liam Neeson) a 'good guy' is almost like saying Jesse James(post civil war historical figure),on the lam for robbing banks, trains, was a 'model citizen?' -- -- -- -- Missouri Governor Crittendon (James Carville,in the 'the assassination of Jesse James): '...I'm going to wreck his train first.' Jesse James is nothing more than a public outlaw who's made his reputation by stealing whatever he could & by killing whoever got in his way. You'll hear some fools says he's getting back at Republicans & union men for wrong his family suffered during the war(CIVIL), but his victims have scarcely been selected w/ reference to their political views! His sins will soon find him out,his cup of inequity is FULL(scenes courtesy,WARNER BROS,2007, all rights reserved).
